Osiek Łuzycki A village situated at the edge of the flooding bench of the Nysa Luzycka River, south of Zgorzelec. In 1385, it was recorded under the name of Ozzek. In later records there had always been the additional term "Lusatian": Wendisch-ossek (1414), Wendischen Ossick (1420), Windisch-Ossigk (1489) or Wendisch Ossigk (1491). As early as in the 14th century, the locality was in property of various patrician families from Zgorzelec. In 1385, the lord of the village was a Zgorzelec burgher, Nitsche List. From 1463, the village became the property of the town council of Zgorzelec.During the famous "beer war" (Bierfe-hde), which Zgorzelec waged against Zittau, Osiek Luzycki was one of the most wronged localities. At the end of May 1491, the Zittau army got into the village, gave the local peasants a flogging and led a way 25 horses, 149 heads of cattle and 170 pigs. Even the cows of the local parish priest were not spared and he complained to Pope Alexander VI himself. An interesting monument of this village is the BVM Birth church. Its existence is proved as early as in 1346. After the fire in 1662, the church was rebuilt and received its current form. It is a building made of stone, with one aisle and the presbytery finished multilaterally. Inside, the late-Renaissance altar survived while in the outer church wall Baroque epitaphs remained. The headstone in memory of Jan Georg von Warnsdorf, killed by Swedish mercenary cavalrymen on the Sulikow market during the Thirty Years' War is worthy of notice. In Osiek Luzycki, on 25 December 1728 Jan Adam Killer was born - one of the most popular German musicians in the 18th century. Hailed as "the father of German vaudeville", Hiller then fell into oblivion (he died on 16 June 1804).
