One of the smallest localities in Zgorzelec poviat situated on the northern shore of Niedowskie Lake, also called Witka lake. In the source records, Niedow has appeared since the 14th century, however the locality itself is much older. Traces of defensive settlement date back to the early Middle Ages. In the 9th-11th centuries, there was a town on the so-colled Slavonic Mount. The town consisted of two elements - the bigger one that included the top of the hill ond a platform (probably of a borough) adjacent to it on the north-eastern side. During the excavations on the Slavonic Mount various iron and ceramic objects, animal bones and charcoals have been found. It can be an interesting fact that a water cistern, sculpted in rock, was found. It is a unique object in Poland. The church in Niedow was a parish church as early as in 1346 and as such it was subject to the dean in Zgorzelec. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the parish of Niedow was one of the biggest in Upper Lusatia. The current Angelic Heavenly Mother church received its look as a result of a thorough reconstruction in 1715-1721.Niedow has been famous for years as a very popular resort near Zgorzelec with o marina and a beach. It happened so after a barrier lake with an area of almost 200 ha was formed here in the years 1960-1964.
